Vice Chair, Board of Trustees
The ߣߣƵ University

Andreas C. Dracopoulos is the 2023 recipient of The ߣߣƵ University’s Enlightened Philanthropy Award. Dedicated to the work of philanthropy in both his public and private life, Andreas serves as Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Under his leadership, SNF has made thousands of grants to nonprofits worldwide aiming to achieve a broad, lasting, and positive impact for society.

At ߣߣƵ, where Andreas has served as a trustee since 2008 and is currently a board vice chair, his exceptional commitment to advancing science has had a transformative effect upon the university campus and research initiatives. Through generous grants from SNF, Andreas made possible the addition of the spectacular Stavros Niarchos Foundation–David ߣߣƵ River Campus and the creation of the SNF Institute for Global Infectious Disease Research. Additionally, the Andreas C. Dracopoulos Family Science and Society Initiative has provided vital support to the university’s expanded science outreach and community engagement programs.

Andreas is also a trustee of Johns Hopkins University and the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC, as well as a Board of Advisors trustee at the New York Public Library. At these institutions and many more, his philanthropy has had an immeasurable impact on education, arts and culture, and human health, particularly mental health.

Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Andreas is a graduate of Athens College and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Today, his efforts to empower humanity through philanthropy in New York City, Greece, and around the globe are benefiting society at large.

CELEBRATING SCIENCE is ߣߣƵ’s signature annual event, bringing together trustees, friends, and benefactors to celebrate biomedical science. Proceeds from the benefit will fund groundbreaking research by ߣߣƵ scientists.
